ALUMNI
I. History of the Department
The DMC College Foundation Alumni Affairs was integrated into the Student Affairs Office to create the Student and Alumni Affairs and Services Office (SAAS) on July 7, 2008 when the school appointed its first SAAS dean in the person of Atty. Jordanne B. Chan-Antonio. However, it was only on June of 2009 when the school finally hired its first Alumni Affairs Coordinator in Tyrone Jay V. Samson.
The Student’s Affairs office was created on June 1, 2006 with its first Student Affairs Coordinator April Pampilo. Pampilo, a Political Science graduate of Silliman University in 2006, is no longer connected with DMC while Atty. Chan is currently on an indefinite leave.
Tyrone is now handling DMC’s Alumni Affairs. You can contact the Alumni Office through DMC’s landline number 212-8881 and connect to 109.
II. Coordinator

DMC Alumni Affairs Coordinator Tyrone is a Silliman Univeristy graduate with a degree in Bachelor in Mass Communication (major in Journalism) in the year 2001. After graduation, Tyrone was hired by the Sunstar Network Exchange in Cebu City as its Assistant On-Line Editor from July 14, 2001 until December 14, 2001.
Before he was hired by DMC as its first Alumni Affairs Coordinator, Tyrone was the Mindanao Area Coordinator of the VICTO National Cooperative Federation and Training Center, based in Cebu City, Philippines from June 16, 2008 until June 2009. VICTO is a cooperative organized in 1970 with services such as consultancy, audit, training, financing, inter-coop trading, research and publication, training center and hostel. With VICTO, Tyrone was mainly responsible with the promotion of the cooperative in all of Mindanao. He was also involved in choosing and closing trainings for primary cooperatives here in Mindanao; in the promotion of cooperative products, services and seminars offered by VICTO National; and in the creation of linkages with other coop federations, non-government organizations and even government agencies.
He has an extensive experience in the field of journalism being the current Editor-In-Chief of the Dipolog Sentinel, as well as being a regular columnist of the Press Freedom (since September 2003), www.dipolognon.com (since March 2003), and The Mindanao Observer (since May 2008). Aside from that, Tyrone is also active in sports, particularly in basketball having served as President of the only Security and Exchange Commission (SEC)-registered basketball organization in Zamboanga del Norte, the Megabulls Basketball Association (MBA) from 2008-2009. Then by 2009-2010, he became the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the MBA.
III. Message from the Alumni Coordinator
Greetings to all.
Being the direct link between the alumni community and the administration, the Alumni Affairs Office is the one responsible for keeping the alumni abreast with what is happening in their alma mater.
To give a better bridge of communication, the Alumni Affairs Office is currently working with the Information Technology department of DMC to unveil the Alumni Registration page of the website wherein alumni will be able to register and be given news of current events in DMC through email. It is also our intent to finally provide the alumni with the identification card within the year. And we promise to give more gifts and offerings during the alumni homecoming scheduled during the Founders Day celebration during the first semester and the College Days celebration during the second semester. In the following year, we hope to add more games for alumni to participate in during the Founders Day and College Days celebration. Aside from table tennis, basketball for men and cyber-games, we are hoping attract more and more alumni to participate in games such as basketball for women, soccer, volleyball, chess, darts, tennis and badminton. Moreover, expect an even better spectacle of grandeur in the Alumni Homecoming to be announced early on the first semester of 2010 classes.
In the meantime, alumni people who would like to get in touch with the Alumni Affairs department can contact us either through the DMC landline of 212-8881 or they can log on to our Facebook account which we maintain with the DMC Yearbook Staff, The Eximius, dmc_eximius@yahoo.com.
God bless and best of wishes in behalf of the institution, DMC College Foundation – where your future began.
Tyrone Jay V. Samson
Alumni Affairs Coordinator
